Welfare Officers
As the veteran community ages, the role of the Welfare Officer has become ever so more involved. Today the Welfare Officer is required to have an holistic understanding of the local community, its services and support that it can provide. Armed with this knowledge, the Welfare Officer is able to provide advice and assist with organising the necessary support to the veteran or widow. People seeking the assistance of the Welfare Officer may ask and seek advice on a variety of matters, such as: home help or home maintenance, Meals on Wheels, the benefits of a pre-paid funeral scheme, assisting with a funeral, accommodation, wills, ensuring financial and legal affairs are in order or even help during time of bereavement. HVIC also provides an on-call, after hours, Welfare Officer in case of emergencies. After hours, if urgent, the Senior Welfare Officer (Errol Smith) can be contacted on 0419632662.
HVIC is staffed by the following Welfare Officers:
Errol Smith,
John Woolnough,
Gary Mansfield,
Peter Derriman,
Barry Hawkins, and
Joe Owens.
